Listening #1: Why One Refugee Emigrated (due tonight)

1. Where did this refugee come from?
2. Why did he leave?
3. Where was he trying to go?

5. What are some difficulties he has faced?
The refugee is come from Iran. 2. He left because he was caught drinking in Iran which is illegal. He was put in jail and his father had to pay some money for him to be free. 3. He is trying to go to Indonesia 4. He is in Australia in island 5. Trying to be killed, his wife is depressed, a gouvernment doesn't let him to get in, they're kill me step by step.
1) The refugee comes from Iran. 2) He left because he was caught drinking in Iran which is illegal, if he doesn't have any money, he can't do anything. And because of that reason, he wants to find a good country to live and run away from Iran. 3) He was trying to go to Indonesia, then go to Australia. 4) He stuck on a pacific island now. 5) He faced many difficulties such as despression, fearness, etc.

I actually heard this on NPR the other day. I was so surprised because I was a refugee in Australia myself. I felt very sorry. I could only imagine of Australia closed its borders on us when we needed help.

He was just trying to leave Iran and go anywhere that wasn't Iran. 4. Now he is in an island in the pacific. 5. He first went to Indonesia with a fake passport. Then he left there to go to Australia with a boat with 56 other people with little food and became sick on the way. Even though they knew that if they approached Australia by boat they were not let into the country "James"took a gamble. His wife and him are very depressed now. His wife tried to kill herself while she was pregnant.
